Postgraduate Research Global Update as of September 2025

Our unique Pulse trackers and Share of Search data provide insights on thousands of prospective students interested in Global PhD opportunities. As of September 2025, we’re seeing that:

• Following on from a trend we picked up on last month, Canada continues to see growing interest from all tracked PhD audiences and now places in among the top 5 research destinations for each. US research, meanwhile, continues to fall from all audiences - most notably Asia and Europe.
  
  
• Asian and African audiences see an even further shift towards interest in On Campus research, with at least three-quarters of each now interested in it.
  
  
• Audiences for all tracked destinations are once again seeing entry point interest shift from Autumn 2025 to Spring 2026 - in fact, around half of those seeking each destination are now targeting Spring 2026.
  
  
• Interest in Mechanical Engineering grows significantly from those seeking to study in Australia - placing it in the top 5 most popular research areas in Canada, Australia and the USA.
