Our unique Pulse trackers and Share of Search data provide insights on thousands of prospective students interested in Global PhD opportunities. As of April 2025, we’re seeing that:

• Interest in US research continues to fall, despite growth at Masters level. Australia takes the top spot for Asian and African audiences.
  
  
• On Campus delivery is the preference for all audiences, though more than a third of European and North American searchers would consider flexible PhD options.
  
  
• Autumn 2025 is the most popular entry point for all destinations, with lingering interest in Spring 2025 for European study. Pipelines for North America are most focused on 2026.
  
  
• Technology fields continue to become more popular at PhD level. A notable example is Artificial Intelligence which sees growth across audiences interested in Ireland, the US and Australia.
