Postgraduate Research Global Update as of January 2025

Our unique Pulse trackers and Share of Search data provide insights on thousands of prospective international students interested in Global PhD opportunities. As of January 2025, we’re seeing that:

• Interest is Irish study continues to grow, most notably from North American audiences.
  
  
• Around half of prospective European students are seeking flexible PhD opportunities, with Blended study being almost twice as popular as Online. By contrast, only 14% of Asian audiences are seeking flexibility.
  
  
• Spring 2025 is still the most popular entry point for most destinations but interest in Autumn 2025 is catching up. In fact, those interested in Italian and Dutch study are now more likely to be searching for Autumn 25.
  
  
• Interest for specialisms in Ireland fluctuates, with Bioinformatics and Plant Biology seeing the largest growth.
