Championing Diversity and Wellbeing – How We’re Recognising Outstanding Contributions in Our 2022 Postgrad Awards
Within a highly competitive market, showing that your institution is recognised for its commitment to wellbeing and diversity can only boost your appeal to prospective students. We’d like to help you shout about the amazing initiatives, campaigns, schemes and individuals at your institution.
It’s the fourth year of our Postgrad Awards, which celebrate the hard work and innovation taking place in universities around the world. The last 12 months have continued to be challenging and we’re proud to give you a meaningful platform to share the successes of your students, academics and professional services staff.
With the all-important feeling of ‘belonging’ being fundamental to a student’s successful time at university, it’s no surprise that recent research by Wonkhe shows that universities are including student wellbeing and mental health as essential strategic priorities, along with the advancement of equality, diversity and inclusion. That’s why, for 2022, we’ve made some changes to two of our award categories.
Student wellbeing and mental health
We felt this would help you hone in on the impact of your wellbeing initiative and showcase the great minds behind the work, recognising Graduate Schools, departments, faculties and teams. Whether it’s a student-focused wellbeing campaign targeted at the specific challenges postgraduate students face, a toolkit that’s been created to help Masters and PhD students with their studies, or a start-of-the-year personal campaign from your Student Ambassadors, we want to hear about it.
Equality and diversity
It could be a campaign that’s focused on highlighting scholarships that help even the playing field for underrepresented groups, or a new access programme platform that supported students through the pandemic, or perhaps it’s a specific course that challenges people’s assumptions and gets students thinking differently. Whatever it might be, as long as it has postgraduate equality and diversity at the core, we want to know about it.
What you should submit
Don’t go crazy on the evidence though, we don’t want this to be a massive job for you (or our judges) so keep it simple. There is room to upload an A4 single page with additional evidence such as photos, an event poster, campaign video link etc but don’t go over more than a single page (including the explanation as to why it’s relevant for your submission).
And above all… remember these are our Postgrad Awards so make sure the submission is postgraduate specific or at least includes postgraduates in a meaningful way!
How to enter
We had almost 300 nominations last year and this year we’re hoping it will be even bigger and better! Get your online nominations into us by 1 April 2022. Judging will take place in May with winners announced in June. Good luck! And remember, we also have our Masters/PhD Student of the Year and Masters Teacher/PhD Supervisor of the Year categories too!
